Time Out.
The HOY7 hunting team would like to thank all 3 of you for reading our ongoing blog efforts. We have decided at this time to take a sabbatical from the daily pressures of the blog and the huge stresses it puts on our families and jobs. We will be officailly 'On Vacation' for the next few weeks.
We will return in order to bring you more of the halarity and Tom Foolery you have come to expect from us in the near future. In the mean time keep yourselves busy by finding money for our annual fund raiser in the begining of October. Enjoy the fall season and God Bless Mr. Charlton Heston.

Nice Shooting Max.
If you happened to be Chineese and on vacation to the USA you might want to go shoot some trap. Now, if you happened to be Freds Chineese brother Max you may also have never really participated in the art of trap shooting. That being said it's good to know that Max was able to take down more of those little clay bastards than his older brother by the end of the day. Taller and a bigger gun, nice job Max.

Welcome To Town Max.
China, an ancient, mysterious and beautiful land, is always appealing to adventurous foreign visitors. As the third largest country in the world occupying an area of 9,600,000 sq km, it spans 62 degrees of longitude and 49 degrees of latitude. A wide variety of terrain and climate shape its numerous natural attractions. Abundant in a variety of resources, plants, animals, and minerals, the land has nurtured countless generations of Chinese people.
One of China's greatest treasures is her long, rich history. As early as 1.7 million years ago, the earliest humans evolved on this land. The first dynasty, the Xia Dynasty, dates to about the 21st century BC. For 4,000 years, feudalism was the dominant economic and cultural model. Then, in 1911, the revolution led by Sun Yat-sen brought the monarchy to an end. On October 1st, 1949, modern China was founded as the 'People's Republic of China'. Since then, China has developed independently and vigorously. Most recently, reform and opening-up policy has energized life in China.
China is proud of her many people, long history, resplendent culture and distinctive customs. Among her greatest gifts to the world are the 'four great inventions' (paper, gunpowder, printing and the compass) . Chinese arts and crafts, including painting, calligraphy, operas, embroidery and silk are distinctive and unique. Martial arts, which have only recently begun to enjoy popularity in other parts of the world have been part of Chinese culture for centuries, and Chinese literature is testifies to the country's rich heritage. And, of course, there is Chinese cuisine, which has been exported to every corner of the globe.

20 out of 25
Some may believe that shooting trap is easy like, ohh say, making a Bananna cream pie. But it's not. Shooting trap can be difficult and disheartening. Especially when you BFF shoots 20 out of 25 during the competition round.
Don't worry though, wedensday is coming up. The day when you can redeem yourself in the eyes of not only your team member but also your Chineese brother. Good luck pal.

Donations needed.
Late summer is the time when our thoughts turn to preperations for the upcoming hunting season. We already have the most knowledge of any team out there. We have the skills. We have the right schedule. We have I-tallian guns. We even have a truck with a trailer hitch. The one thing we don't have is a nice little boat to get us further out into the water.
The picutre you see here is not an exact replica of the boat we need, but it is very close. The problem seems to be that these things are incredibly expensive and that's even before the camo paint job. Here's where you come in:
Bake Sale.
E-Bay items.
Cash donations.
401K withdrawl.
Selling a kidney.
Etc.
All these are examples of how YOU can help US get the little runabout we need for this season. Now don't think that we are just going to take your money and run. No way Jose'. Here's what you get in return for every donation over 5K.
Fresh Ducks.
Pick up the checkbook and open the vaults. Make your (tax deductable?) donation today at:

And now, a message from the NFL.
Hey, it's me the NFL.
Today I have taken the form of Armani Toomer and Tiki Barber of the New York Football Giants. This evening we were able to just sit and watch the rest of the preseason game because we already had it won with just the opening drive. This may be the year we go all the way.
Remember to watch YOUR favorite teams play pre-season. How else are you going to know weather or not your team has a 285lb quaterback like the Giants do? Remember, the NFL needs you. You bring the beer, we'll supply the fun.
New Mexicans hate Republicans!
ALBUQUERQUE -- Years before Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a lawyer during a Texas quail hunt, Cheney himself was on the receiving end of an errant shotgun blast.
Carlsbad Mayor Bob Forrest said he doesn't know for certain if he or his twin brother, Dick Forrest, fired the shot during the hunting trip in the late 1990s. It accidentally pelted Cheney, who was then chief executive at Halliburton Co.
"We're probably the only twins in the United States that have shot the vice president and never have gone to jail," Forrest joked. The Albuquerque Journal reported the incident Sunday.
Cheney wasn't hurt but he was miffed, Forrest told the Journal.
"He said, 'You guys watch where you're shooting!' He was very offended," Forrest said.
The hunting group included the Forrest twins, Cheney and Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M. They were hunting on a southern New Mexico ranch owned by the late Colin McMillan, an assistant secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush, Forrest said. He said the senator wasn't the shooter.

More great news.
Duck numbers up, geese 'robust' as hunting seasons approach
By Mike Stahlberg

It's August, which means the long drought between major hunting seasons is finally over.
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission met Friday in Salem to adopt the 2006-07 game bird season regulations, which are set at the last minute to incorporate the results of federal waterfowl surveys in the decision-making process.
The outlook for bird hunters is generally good, according to reports presented to the commission by field biologists.
Most of the adopted seasons and regulations are very similar to last year's - including the maximum 107 days of duck hunting allowed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Mallard numbers in Pacific Flyway states increased 7 percent this year, biologists reported, and "total ducks in Oregon increased 17 percent from 2005."
And 2005 was a decent year for duck hunters. Harvest Information Program surveys indicate 18,700 adult Oregon hunters took home 357,600 ducks - a 39 percent increase over the previous year.
The 2006-07 duck and merganser season in Zone 1 (western Oregon and Columbia basin counties) will run Oct. 14-29 and Nov. 1-Jan. 28, 2007. In Zone 2 (the remainder of eastern Oregon), hunting will be allowed Oct. 7-Dec. 5 and Dec. 8-Jan. 21. A statewide waterfowl youth hunt will be held Sept. 23-24.
One change the commission approved in bird-hunting regulations involves the schedule at Fern Ridge Wildlife Area west of Eugene.
The Fisher Butte Unit, previously open three days each week, will now be open to hunting every day. However, hunting hours there will end at 1 p.m., and a total public access closure will begin at 2 p.m. during the general duck season. The Royal Amazon Unit will be managed on the same schedule.
Also, scheduling of the Western Oregon Fee Pheasant Hunt at Fern Ridge Wildlife Area will be juggled to provide a full month between the end of that hunt and the opening of waterfowl season.
Coupled with recent habitat improvements, the scheduling changes are intended to better attract and distribute waterfowl and improve hunter success, said Brad Bales, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife game bird program manager.
Meanwhile, goose populations remain "robust" throughout the state. But hunting those big birds now involves an even more complex checkerboard of dates and locations, as the commission approved two new goose hunting zones to address depredation problems on private agricultural land.
One is a new south coastal zone for lands in Coos, Curry and Douglas counties west of Highway 101. Hunting there will target Aleutian Canada geese in late February and early March. The second new zone is in Klamath County and allows late February and early March hunting for white-fronted geese.
Including the Northwest Oregon Permit Goose Zone, there are now four different fall goose season frameworks in Western Oregon - each of which has two or more "sessions." That's in addition to the September Canada goose season targeting resident geese.
This year's September goose season will run Sept. 9-19 in the 13 northwest Oregon counties, and Sept. 9-14 in five southwest Oregon counties, plus all of eastern Oregon.
The complicated nature of goose hunting notwithstanding, 11,500 hunters harvested 66,000 geese in 2005, or about one bird per day spent in the field.

And now, a message from the NFL.
Hey everybody, it's me the NFL. Perhaps you remember Rons' older brother Joey. Well Joey has a new team this year and that could make for some excitement on the field at the turq and orange this time around. As a matter of fact, lots of teams have new players and new strategies just for you. Don't ever think that we don't care about you, here at the NFL we do. Stop by and see us. I know Rons' older brother Joey sure would like to see you.
The NFL.

HA! It is I, Greenie again. Don't think I didn't see you two at "Sand Island". I know for a fact that you were really at...... ROOSTER ROCK! You think you can fool me but it is impossible, I am Greenie.
"Scouting for hunting spots" must mean something different to you stupid hunters than it does to me. No matter, you could never hit me anyway. What with your 'limp' guns and 'naked' determination being no match for my superior Frenchness and scorn. Good luck next season, don't 'pitch' a fit or 'catch' a cold boys.
I am Greenie and I rule.
Remember When.
My backyard. Step 7
Once all the major structure has been created it's time to build a BBQ room. Using some old windows and some left over wood I fashioned a room of sorts to house the grill and table. This will cut the wind and rain all winter as I throw massive quantities of fresh duck on the grill.
I also installed a rain barrell. Rain barrells store water from the gutters durring the dry summer months to use on the soon to be planted garden. Also it will pleasantly overflow all winter long when the rains come for a 6 month period begining soon. Now all I need are some perennials and grasses and I'm done. Just in time for football season. I never liked camping anyway.

And now, a message from the NFL.
Hey buddy, it's me the NFL again. You know I'm starting up again on Sunday right? You know I need your support right? You know I miss you right? Don't let me be lonley this year old friend.
Just look at this picture of Joe Robbie stadium. It looks like something is missing, and there is. That something is the great fans of the Miami Dolphins and the booze fueled enthusiasm they bring to the game. Don't let the ole turquoise and orange down, be a fan.
Sincerely,
The NFL.

Fred G. Isn't your birthday coming up???
Criminey Folks.
Today is the day to get Fred G. a birthday card and send it off. Don't let him go ANOTHER birthday without you letting him know what a great hunter he is. Did you get him a card last year? How about the year before? I didn't think so.
Without YOUR help Fred G may not know how great he really is. Here at the HOY7 Hunting Team we are counting on YOU to help a brother out. Even if you don't get him the duck boat, monster truck, Browning Cynergy or any of the other things I suggested the very least you can do is get the man a goddam card.
Geeze.

My backyard. Step 6
Something of the utmost importance happens in step #6.
After finding more bricks I was able to complete the patio in fine fashion. There are now three distinct types of brick in the genetic code of the patio and walkway and I must say, they work together well. Kind of like Pintails and Mallards. (Remember not to shoot the pintails however, you may be levied a sustantial fine for accidently shooting one.) Once the walkway is completed there is space for one of the most important features ever created. The 'hot tub pad'.
The hot tub pad is, obviously, where the hot tub is going to go. Easily acessable from the back door on cold days and protected from the wind. Just think of the relaxation of the 105 degree water after a hard day of folding my limit of fat Mallrads (not pintails mind you). Also after a long day of skiing it sure will feel nice to get into the swirling waters of a crystal clear tub. All that is needed now is the tub itself. If any of you have an extra hot tub send it my way. The damn things are expensive.

Science.
"The invariant mass of a particle is independent of its velocity v, whereas relativistic mass increases with velocity and tends to infinity as the velocity approaches the speed of light c. They can be defined as follows:
mr = E/c2
m0 = sqrt(E2/c4 - p2/c2)
where E is energy, p is momentum and c is the speed of light in a vacuum. The velocity dependent relation between the two is
m0 = sqrt(E2/c4 - p2/c2)
where E is energy, p is momentum and c is the speed of light in a vacuum. The velocity dependent relation between the two is
mr = m0 /sqrt(1 - v2/c2)"

Carly Simon sings for Jenny X. and friend.
Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best
I wasn't lookin'
but somehow you found me
It tried to hide from your love light
But like heaven above me
The spy who loved me
Is keepin' all my secrets safe tonight
And nobody does it better
Though sometimes I wish someone could
Nobody does it quite the way you do
Why'd you have to be so good?
The way that you hold me
Whenever you hold me
There's some kind of magic inside you
That keeps me from runnin'
But just keep it comin'
How'd you learn to do the things you do?
Oh, and nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, baby, darlin', you're the best
Baby you're the bestDarlin', you're the best
Baby you're the best

More good news.
The numbers are in and they add up to what every waterfowler wants: more ducks. According to the preliminary report released by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, some 36.2 million breeding ducks populate the western prairies. More to the point, overall duck populations among the ten most-hunted species increased by 14 percent. In short, you should be in for some good (or at least better) gunning this year.
Why the good forecast? “The stage was set last summer and fall when most areas had at least fair precipitation,” says Ducks Unlimited chief biologist Bruce Batt. “That left ponds in better condition at freeze-up and also meant there was better-than-normal residual nesting cover on most upland habitats. The increased populations along with timely precipitation this spring and summer should help assure good conditions for a strong nesting effort and good wetland conditions for brood rearing.”
And now, a message from the NFL.
Hey buddy, it's me, the NFL. I've taken the appearance of your old friend Dan in order to talk to you here today. Don't forsake me just because I'm not the same. In fact I am the same, just different. The same NFL you loved for so many years.
Remember how we used to just sit and spend quality time together? All we needed was a few beers and some snacks and we could be together for hours on end. It was so much fun we hung out on Monday nights too. You could even take a nap and when you woke up I'd still be there, ready for more. Yea, that's me.
So what if I've changed a little? I'm still the NFL you know and love. Just give me another chance. How about it buddy? I'll bring Rons' older brother Joey over, huh.... huh....?
Missing you,
The NFL.
